Dr Gargash explained that this global problem can be eliminated only through international cooperation, stating that the world needs a concerted effort to reduce the negative effects of such crimes on human society.
?The UAE seeks to utilise all possible means to eliminate trafficking crimes and protect the weak segments of the society such as children and women from exploitation through the relevant institutions that offer them complete protection,? he added,
He said that the committee has received a letter of thanks from United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for the GCC countries for its contributions to the international study on human exploitation. ?This is a recognition of the UAE?s efforts to eradicate these crimes,? he noted.
The meeting focused on the request of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for GCC countries to develop partnerships with the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking. The meeting also discussed financial aid for victims of trafficking and collecting donations for the victim support fund. The meeting also highlighted a letter from Dubai Police regarding the Third Annual Forum to Combat Human Trafficking.
