Located at The Galleria, on Al Maryah Island from 9th-13th April, Silent Voices is presented by Ewaa Shelters for Victims of Human Trafficking in association with the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation, ADMAF, and is under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development; Huda Ebrahim Alkhamis, Founder of ADMAF and Artistic Director of the Abu Dhabi Festival; Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of State for Tolerance, and Sara Shuhail, General Director of Ewaa Shelters for Victims of Human Trafficking, were in attendance at the opening.

Huda Alkhamis said, “Silent Voices has been a cornerstone of ADMAF?s community arts programme since 2012, demonstrating the importance of visual arts in the rehabilitation of human trafficking survivors. The resulting exhibition epitomises the remarkable strength and determination of each and every individual and shines a light on a major global issue while reminding those of us more fortunate to be forever thankful.”

“At Ewaa Shelters, we strongly believe that survivors gain the greatest benefit from their rehabilitation journey through visual art. In collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation, we have witnessed its positive impact, how it changes a survivor?s state of mind, and how they are able to learn to embrace life again and attain an inner peace, from feeling like an outsider to becoming a lover of life once more,” Sara Shuhail commented.

“I wish to express my sincerest appreciation to ADMAF ? a thank you that comes from every single survivor since 2012 whose lives have been rebuilt thanks to this outstanding initiative. This empowerment trough art truly resonates with survivors as they come to terms with their experiences of abuse and exploitation,” the General Director added.
