He referred, in the report issued by the centre on the violence and racial discrimination in some of major countries, to “attempts by some forces to politicise the human rights files according to their vision and political agendas.”

Dr. Al Qasim stressed the importance of the international organisations and civil society institutions to shoulder their responsibilities to promote awareness on the correct application of the concepts of international rights without double standards.

“States and governments lose their credibility due to their double standards in tackling the human rights file, which should be dealt with according to the criteria and foundations of neutrality, impartiality and clear-cut respect for views and beliefs,” he said.

Dr. Al Qasimi stressed that the negative repercussions of application of principles of human rights reflect negatively on rehabilitation of young generations. He added that flouting of such principles help promote hatred, stoke violence phenomenon and nurture elements of terrorism, whose devastating effects are being suffered by many people.

He noted that the centre contributes to enhancing awareness about proper principles of human rights and obligations by organising events related to this matter so as to analyse causes behind persistence of racial discrimination and xenophobia, as well as address the themes of peace, tolerance and respect for cultural diversity principles.
