The committee also examined measures carried out by the ministry in response to reports by international organizations on domestic violence prevalent in the country.
The committee members stressed the importance of establishing a data base, offering specialized studies in the field of human rights and comprehensively monitoring all parties involved in human rights.
During their visit to Ewa’a Shelter, the committee members were given a presentation on the shelter’s history, the nature of the cases it receives, its mechanism of dealing with the victims as well as its criteria in admission, offering shelter and rehabilitation.
The committee was also briefed on further services offered by Ewa’a, such as family support as well as psychological, social, health and legal support.
